A Favourite Drop from Sicily
2020 Cristo di Campobello Rosso Terre Siciliane
(92 points, Luca Maroni; 91 points, James Suckling)
Boasting one of the sunniest climates in Europe, Sicily is blessed with the ideal conditions for producing the entire Mediterranean triad – bread, olive oil and wine. Hot, dry days and cool nights enable grapes to achieve perfect polyphenolic maturation - the tannins and anthocyanins that provide colour, structure and the health benefits for which red wine is renowned.
If you have dined with us over the years, you may well have already tasted some of the wines of Cristo di Campobello. Located in the micro-region of Sicily’s beautiful Agrigento, Cristo di Campobello continues to impress us with premium red and white wines, which are handcrafted and on the cutting edge of Sicilian winemaking.
The Cristo di Campobello Rosso is a fruit-driven blend of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. In the glass, the wine offers full, fruity aromas with notes of blackberries, raspberries and cherries. The palate opens up to reveal subtle layers of mocha and spice. Soft tannins and a fine acid line deliver a smooth, rounded mouthfeel and long finish. Enjoy now or cellar up to 5 years.
