Cool Climate Gems from Tertini
From the esteemed Tertini Winery in the Southern Highlands, we bring you a selection of three terrific cool climate white wines: premium Riesling & Chardonnay from their Tassie vineyards presented alongside one of their signature NSW wines - a stunning interpretation of the alternative Italian varietal, Arneis.
The fruit for Tertini's Tasmanian Chardonnay and Riesling comes from the pristine environment and rich, ancient soils of the Coal River Valley, just north of Hobart. With long, sun-filled days, low rainfall and cool breezes from the Tasman Sea, the site provides ideal growing conditions for premium cool climate wines.
2x 2018 Tertini Tasmanian Riesling
Fragrant aromas of lemon, lime and florals lead to citrus and apple flavours on the palate, complemented by the generous crisp acidity for which Tasmanian Rieslings are known. Drink now or cellar for another 8 years. Gold, 2019 International Cool Climate Wine Show; Gold, 2019 Tasmanian Wine Show; Silver, 2019 Decanter World Wine Awards; Silver, 2019 AWC Vienna Wine Challenge 95 points, 2021 James Halliday Wine Companion; 95 points, Huon Hooke, The Real Review 2021.
2x 2021 Tertini Private Cellar Collection Arneis (Southern Highlands)The “little rascal” of Piedmont, as the name translates, is not often seen in Australia, however, it is an excellent match for Tertini’s Yaraandoo vineyard near Berrima. High natural acidity from this cool climate, relatively high-altitude location ensures a clean finish and medium-term cellaring potential. In the glass, the wine is pale lemon with aromas of apple and stonefruit, followed by savoury almond and subtle vanilla notes on the palate. A great alternative to Chardonnay that will complement seafood and poultry.
2x 2018 Tertini Tasmanian Chardonnay
Naturally fermented and matured on lees for 10 months before bottling, the Chardonnay is a delicate balance of citrus flavour, subtle toastiness and crisp acidity. Made without malolactic fermentation or battonage, this is a modern style of Chardonnay, with a rounded texture from time in French oak. Top Gold, 2019 International Cool Climate Wine Show; 94 Pts, James Halliday Wine Companion.
