2018 Villa A Sesta Chianti Classico Riserva

Named for the small village from which it hails in the hills near Siena, Villa a Sesta is synonymous with top quality wines and olive oils, and we are very proud to feature this acclaimed producer on our wine list.

The Tattoni family owns and operates this picturesque site in the heart of Tuscany, which spans over 1000 hectares of land, most of which is dedicated to growing Sangiovese. The specific composition of soil, slope, altitude, sun exposure, ventilation and microclimate are the fundamental elements behind their reputation as one of the region’s highest quality producers.

Chianti Classico is always one of our most popular wine styles at the restaurant. The 2018 Riserva is made up of 92% Sangiovese and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. The qualification of Riserva means that the grapes need to have been matured for at least 24 months prior to release. Villa a Sesta exceed this standard by maturing the grapes for 30 months in barriques, with an additional 18 months in the bottle prior to release. The result is a mature and refined wine.

Ruby red in the glass, it offers enticing aromas of cherry, violet, tobacco, vanilla and dark chocolate. Fruity, mineral and spiced, the palate boasts a wealth of flavour, softness and elegance with every sip.
