Named after a fortress that controlled the Roman countryside during the late Middle Ages, Castel de Paolis is a winery steeped in tremendous history.
The Campo Vecchio Rosso is made with fruit from 28 year old vines on volcanic soil, imbuing it with rich flavour and concentration. A 50/50 blend of Syrah with the indigenous grape Cesanese, the wine offers an intriguing balance of fruit character with a touch of spice. Ruby red in the glass with aromas of red fruit, blackberries, raspberries and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is well balanced with fine tannins and a hint of minerality. A brilliant accompaniment to meat pasta dishes, grilled meats and aged cheeses.
