One of our favourite wineries in the lush hills of the Caprino Veronese is Monte Zovo, owned by the Cottini family. The fruit for their Pinot Nero comes from their Spiazzi vineyards in the northern area of Verona, where the soil is calcareous and rocky with a clay loam texture. These are also the highest altitude vineyards in Verona, averaging 850 meters above sea level. In the glass, the wine is a brilliant garnet red. Ripe cherries and plums are evident on the nose, while impeccably mellowed, chiselled tannins provide a silky, yet powerful texture on the palate.
