From the rugged clifftops along the awe-inspiring Amalfi Coast, the Marisa Cuomo Winery enjoys one of the most scenic vistas in the entire world. The wines here are known as ‘extreme wines’ because of the extreme topography, weather and the tenacity required to produce them. In this unique microclimate, yields are low, but the wide temperature variations serve to maintain acid levels and the bright, sunny days ensure full ripening.
Marisa Cuomo’s flagship white, 'Fiorduva' is one of the most sought-after wines in all of Italy. At The Restaurant Pendolino, we find the reds to be equally enchanting. As they say at the winery, “the wines are the magical expression of a place of beauty beyond compare.”
The fruit for 'Ravello' is hand harvested from coastal terraces ranging from 300-400m above sea level, abundant with limestone rock. After undergoing fermentation and intense maceration for 20 days, the wine is matured for 12 months in new French oak barriques.
Deep ruby red with garnet hues, intense aromas of forest fruit and wild berries, leading on to liquorice, vanilla and spice on the palate. 93 points, James Suckling; 93 points Robert Parker.
