Once on the brink of disappearing, Nascetta is the only native white grape of the Langhe, and a handful of dedicated growers have brought it back from obscurity. Fabio Oberto’s Collina Dioniso is hand-harvested from west-facing vines planted in 1998 on limestone and marl soils near La Morra. It’s fermented in stainless steel and rests on its lees for three months, with no malolactic fermentation, which keeps it crisp and vibrant. Expect a fresh, aromatic white with citrus, white flowers and a gentle herbal edge. It’s a natural match for seafood, vegetable dishes and light starters, and it makes a great aperitif.
