Amarone della Valpolicella is now considered to be amongst the most powerful and distinctive wine produced anywhere in the world. This is largely thanks to the use of the appassimento drying method using a blend of native grapes including Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara.
The fruit for the 2016 Monte Zovo Amarone della Valpolicella comes from vineyards between 350-500 metres above sea level. Winner of the coveted Tre Bicchieri designation from Gambero Rosso, Italy's best-known Italian wine guide. Only about 2% of Italian wines reviewed receive this award. Deep ruby red in the glass, sumptuous aromas of mature fruit, ripe dark cherries mingle with cinnamon, liquorice, and coffee. The palate is warm and powerful with an impressively long finish.
The Degani winery is another exemplary producer in the region, with whom we share a longstanding relationship. According to Gambero Rosso, one of Italy's major wine publications, “(brothers Aldo and Luca Degani) amaze us by regularly turning out great results, vintage after vintage. Wines of high quality and lashings of personality.”
The 2018 Degani La Rosta Amarone Della Valpolicella is intense garnet red in colour with a rich, full bodied structure. Beautifully balanced, this wine has fresh aromas, soft tannins, plenty of rich fruit and hints of chocolate and vanilla on the ultra-long, velvety finish.
