2020 Marisa Cuomo 'Furore' Bianco DOC
From the rugged clifftops along the awe-inspiring Amalfi Coast, the Marisa Cuomo Winery enjoys one of the most scenic vistas in the entire world. The wines here are known as extreme wines because of the extreme topography, weather and the tenacity required to produce them. In this unique microclimate, yields are low, but the wide temperature variations serve to maintain acid levels and the bright, sunny days ensure full ripening.
Pale yellow in colour with hints of acacia, lemon verbena, and aromatic herbs. On the palate, citrus notes mesh with toasted almond on a long, fresh finish.
2013 Orlando Abrigo 'Tres Plus' Langhe Chardonnay DOCG
A showstopping wine, this is a vibrant blend of Chardonnay with Piedmont's native Nascetta grape. The Chardonnay is aged for ten months in oak while the Nascetta ferments on its own lees in stainless steel. Weekly batonnage (lees stirring) is used for both parcels to impart texture before blending. The resulting wine is an intense yellow in colour with fresh broad flavours of peach, citrus and wet stone. A top wine from the Langhe, beautifully matured and with a tip of the hat stylistically to France. The cork has been sealed under wax preventing any oxidation. 13%
2020 Castel De Paolis Campo Vecchio Bianco - From the extraordinary and historic Castel de Paolis just south of Rome, comes a distinctive white blend made from Malvasia Bianca di Candia 50%, Malvasia del Lazio 30%, Viognier 20%. A refreshing wine, offering aromatic citrus, tropical fruit and white floral notes. Dry with a round mouthfeel, balanced by distinct purity and length. An excellent companion for seafood, white meat and vegetables. 13%
2020 Bruna 'U Baccan' Pigato Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC
The fruit for 'U Baccan' ("the boss") comes from 50-70 year old vines on both blue and red clay soils, rich in ferrous minerals and fossils. The best fruit from these low-yielding old vines gets selected each vintage for 'U Baccan.' The wine is aged in barrel on lees, with regular battonage for 10 months, and a further 8 months in bottle before release. The attention to detail in fruit selection and winemaking delivers an ideal representation of Vermentino's complexity and great personality.
Straw yellow in the glass, with aromas of Mediterranean herbs like sage and thyme, as well as peach, mango and acacia honey. Mouthfilling texture with balsamic, saline and mineral notes. This is a wine with excellent cellaring potential, and will complement seafood, vegetarian dishes and Liguria's famous pesto.
2022 Villanoviana 'Teia' Bianco DOC
100% Vermentino fermented in concrete vats. Bright straw yellow in colour, the nose offers floral hints of chamomile, citrus peel, ripe yellow peach, rosemary and Mediterranean scrub aromas. On the palate, it expresses a gentle and refreshing acidity combined with a subtle minerality on the finish. An excellent aperitif or a great match for seafood, salads and vegetarian recipes.
